Born and raised here and what keeps me here is the lack of bugs. I've seen bugs in the lower 48 that are as big as small mammals. No thank you!!

I agree. I’ve been here 32 years after living in California for 40 years. Politically I’m not like most people here, but it doesn’t matter. People here are neighbors and we help each other out. I do things most people have never done. I lived in Barrow for twenty years, and it was amazing.

Amen…just back from vacay in lower 48 so many people, so many cars, my granddaughter said why is everything so manicured not wild? Lived here 34 years small town in AK. I am never leaving. I don’t care if my clothes match😂

3 bigger reasons I left Alaska after being raised there. The cold, dark and monotonous. Dark and cold for 8 months is too dang much 😂. And no access to any other environment gets so dull. So dull, so boring. You miss out on so much living in Alaska. But hey, if you’re an extreme homebody you’ll love it. 🤠👍🤣

You have to have a plan in place, money saved and a source of income before you decide to move to Alaska. I would love to go back but the economy stinks right now, cannot save anything.
