Immediately after the Tummy Tuck Surgery the recovery process in the recovery room is an essential part of ensuring a smooth transition back to reality! Here's what typically happens: Waking Up from Anesthesia: You'll gradually wake up from anesthesia in a controlled, safe environment. It’s normal to feel groggy or disoriented at first, but the effects of anesthesia will slowly wear off, this was not pretty at all lol! I was very disoriented. Monitoring Vital Signs: Right after surgery, you’ll be closely monitored by medical staff. Megan & Alex kept an eye on my heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and other vital signs to ensure I was recovering well from anesthesia. Checking Surgical Areas: Dr. Sterry checked the surgical areas, ensuring there’s no excessive bleeding or other complications. Your incisions will be bandaged in a binder and drain in place to eliminate fluids. Guidance on Post-op Care: Before being discharged, the ladies went over instructions again on how to care for my incision, manage drains, and medications at home. The recovery room phase is short-term, typically lasting 1-2 hours. You are expected to walk out. Have a pillow, mattress protector, blanket, juice, eye mask waiting in the care for you for the ride home. Please feel free to ask any questions below!
