(Props to anyone who actually reads this) okayyy so basicallyyy!! We all know that yo girl is in her 20s and my metabolism is slowing down. I was never active as a child and I did not play a single physical sport. I ate nothing but junk food my entire life. I only started trying things like avocados, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, and basically any type of salad about two years ago. It’s all starting to catch up to my body. In January, I’d reached the heaviest I’d ever been in my life at 128 pounds (I am only 5 ft y’all), and before that I was consistently between 105-115. I told myself that once my body began to gain weight, being fat and not muscle, that I would never let myself go the same way I’ve seen a lot of people in my life let themselves go. By no means do I believe that I am obese or large; in fact I believe that I am luckier than many being where I’m at without having eaten healthy or exercised. Today I still consume over 100% of my daily sugar intake. I’ve made multiple attempts to quit, but I’ve come to the realization that sugar is an addiction and I am literally addicted to it. I have to test my self-control. I have to say no. Yesterday was the first day in over a month that I consumed no additional sugar, with only some honey in the morning on top of cottage cheese toast. I am extremely proud of myself. Aside from that, over the past 3 years I’ve also made multiple attempts to “stay consistent” with the gym. These attempts normally only last a few weeks to a month. The last time I went to the gym was in May. I am posting this today because I’m going to stay consistent, not for anyone other than myself. It isn’t a choice anymore, it’s a necessity for my health. When I’ve previously gone to the gym, I also did nothing but cardio on the treadmill and a machine to work on my abdomen. Today- for the first time ever- I tried a machine to work on my arms. The truth is that I have no idea what I’m doing; I have no idea where I’m supposed to feel the burn, I have no idea how to even flex most of my muscles, I am pretty sure my form is always incorrect when I try working out with my own weight on a mat, but I can’t let the lack of knowledge continue to keep me from really learning and bettering myself. If anyone sticks around for this journey, I so appreciate you. And if anyone EVER shares any advice, I also so appreciate you. I hope this shows others out there like myself that they’re not alone in starting a health journey, and that it’s completely normal to not know what you’re doing. We got this y’all!!!!!! Yay!!!
