@ghostdog_trucker: 🔗 Your chain might be rated for 6,600 lbs... but is your trailer? If you’re using a 3/8" Grade 70 chain, that’s your number on paper. But if your stake pocket or spool is only rated for 3,300 lbs, that’s your real limit. 📌 Securement is only as strong as the weakest point. That means your chain, your binder, and your trailer all have to line up. 💡 A steel trailer might have higher anchor ratings than aluminum, but don’t assume — check the specs. 🧠 This is the kind of thing that gets missed in truck driving school. But DRIVERS!! If your trailer doesn’t have any of the spool or stake pocket weight designation stickers, then the rub rail spool and stake pockets get automatically designated to the weakest link of your securement which is normally your chain. 👍

When I was hauling heavy coils in Michigan I was nervous wrapping that chain around that stake pocket!

Thanks for the info!!! How does the working load change if it’s a steel trailer?

Add in that the securement devices being used is only as strong as the weakest one. Other wise great video.

I’ve had welds fail on stake pockets and stopped chaining around. Only use spool

Chain spools at all times. Chains will chew up and crack steak pockets over time
