Yeah, I’m telling you that. If you don’t have money for food and bills, you sure don’t need nails done. Go get you some Sally Hansen gel from Walmart and grow your own for eight dollars a bottle it last month.

As a licensed professional nail tech that is fully booked I’m telling you straight up. We do not care that you do your nails at home. I would hope that you are safe and understand all the precautions with doing your nails at home but other than that go for it. Gel kits are widely available on the Internet. Haven’t lost one quiet over them.

GenX: Doing nails was taught in Home Economics back in HS to both boys and girls, just as girls were taught some carpentry work too. I’ve been doing my own nails since.

OPI read the room and made a smart marketing decision. 100% if you have real talent, customer service, and don’t overprice yourself out of customers then something like this won’t impact your business. 🤷🏼♀️

I plan to continue to go to my nail salon because I have the means to do so. My thinking is that if you can afford to do it, continue to support people’s profession in aesthetics but everybody should be able to do it at home if they want. I never had a professional manicure until I was like 22. And didn’t get them regularly until my late 30s

I remember going out and getting a full set for $20 and a fill for $10. I have been doing my own nails now for over 20 years after I paid to get chemical burns on all my fingers and they turned black.

I feel like the ones who charge $120 should have to pay for top quality products if they are going to charge that much. Bc sometimes higher the price better the quality. I follow a nail tech that has in the past broke down prices for each product and can understand why she charges as much as she does. She also had receipts to back it up.

I started doing my own gel nails during covid and have not stepped foot into a salon since. I started out with the Beetles brand kit. I find that Beetles and DND are the best brands!

I literally bought reusable nails and glue from Amazon for 20 bucks. I grew up with $20.00 full set and $12.00 fill in nail prices. I got my nails done once (full set with design and pedi with big toe design) for a special occasion and spent $170. Never again!!
