I have family buried in both cemeteries. My family is originally from that area and many of their homes got bought out & bulldozed for the airport and they moved up the road to Hapeville

There’s a small cemetery in the parking lot of the old Avondale mall in Decatur GA (now Walmart). Search “Crowley mausoleum” for pictures.

Here’s something wild also. At the Savannah International Airport in Savannah, Georgia there are actually two graves that are actually embedded in the runway. When the airport expanded the family agreed to move part of the cemetery, but two of the grays were left there at the family request and you can actually see where they are buried at.

❤️Love seeing this history. My mom grew up in College Park until the airport expanded & took over her entire community. She moved to Fayette County after. Her house was located on a now runway.

Thank you so much for sharing. Been looking for a place to watch the planes. I lost my dad in 2011 and one of my favorite memories of him was when we went to DC and watched the planes at the park.
