Mom drops off camper (after camp already started) in front of basketball arena instead of walking the athlete in and checking her daughter in. Fast forward 8 hours later when the camp is over, mom comes in to pick up her daughter and we tell her that her daughter was never here and wasn’t checked in. *mom thinks we lost her daughter*. We look everywhere; daughter was hiding in a bathroom stall for 8 hours scrolling on her phone.

2 years ago at a HS FB camp I was called at 5:30am for a kid having severe abdominal pain, had to drive him to the ER bc his appendix burst. When I got back from the ER I had a kid immediately break his nose and another one break his hand.

i had three girls start their periods for the first time during the span of a four day overnight basketball camp.. one’s mom had talked to her about it before but the other two had no idea what was happening to them 🤪

working an overnight soccer camp, had a 8 y.o. boy come up to me crying because he was 'turning into a girl'. had hematuria due to a kidney contusion from diving as a goalie. all he knew was that girls 'peed blood sometimes ' . . .that was an awkward conversation with his parents

HS FB camp. Had an elbow dislocation and 2 knee dislocations in just the first day. While we were waiting for EMS with one of the knees I the camp director of sports medicine then had to tell everyone to go into our fieldhouse for lighting while me and a coworker were trying to splint the knee and hope EMS arrived soon

I’m a first year ats but a while back while interning at a college I had not one but two diff athletes projectile vom in my direction… they unfortunately made contact both times 🥹

Was talking to a coworker underneath the med tent at a summer camp when a kid came up to us to show us something “cool”… he waved hi to us with his broken forearm and laughed as he said his arm looked like a noodle. Safe to say we were freaking out internally.

Overnight camp also had to activate mental health EAP at 1am in the mountains of Pennsylvania. In the middle of working with the patient a skunk started running straight at us. We had to start sprinting mid conversation just to get away from the skunk in time …..

Not too crazy but my second day of camp (literally second day using my ATC credential) I had a boxer’s fx and a thumb fx within 20 mins of each other

My first day working D1 football as an intern (the part that was required for our program not even certified yet) I was working ice tubs when all of a sudden the biggest lineman we had starts full body cramping and I had to drag him out by myself otherwise he would’ve drowned

At a HS basketball camp I removed an athlete from play for hitting his head on the gym floor and 20 minutes later I look around (4 courts going at once) and this same athlete is on the court. I go talk to the same coach and he goes “well his mom is right over there and said he could play”🙃

Wrestling camp between Y1 and Y2 of masters degree. Kid came up after getting hit in the head. Started his Scat-6 and he starts complaining of tingling in arms and legs, won't hold eyes open, pale as f*ck, barely forming words. Mom was paramedic and said monitor him overnight and reassess, but referr if we needed to. next morning still c/o tingling and now spine pain. Mom took him to UC and turns out he was starving himself for 3 days (2 bananas/day) to drop a weight class b/c he kept losing his matches and was mad. Mom fed and brought him back, scariest moment as a student

I had a girl sublux her shoulder (for the second time), but camp was essentially over so I just had her wait for her mom, but I didn’t have a sling, so I used her sweatpants 😭
