@hr_explained: Yes, companies can have policies and expectations that employees arrive on time and stay for their whole shift. And, sometimes employees need to be told about FMLA, ADA, the PWFA, etc. Just because an employee doesn’t ask for an accommodation under ADA for their migrains or time blindness or depression, does not mean the employer isn’t obligated to provide this information. The law expects employers present this information even if an employee didn’t directly ask for it by name. #humanresources #hrtiktok #careertiktok #corporatetiktok #manager #careerlife #corporatelife #managersbelike #Inverted

I understand your point but what happens when half an office was getting in trouble for absences and lates and then all decide to get an accommodation. The ones who don’t (many who could also) are left to constantly pick up the slack and are stressed out even more because the call outs and lates are now protected and occur often. There is no way to prove that the accommodation is being abused so managers are stuck between a rock and a hard place not being able to do anything about it and the other employees who come to work and on time (who also have things going on in their life) are now upset and stressed out.

what about self responsibility and figuring out why YOU are late and getting the help YOU need? I dont see how this is something your manager should have to get involved in. if they think of it and want to share the resources sure great but going as far as saying they aren't doing their job correctly for not sharing every resource there is based on a you problem seems extreme. i have never been a manager and I have struggled with tardiness so I feel like im a good person to speak on this. too much coddling.

My ADHD coworker is always late for work. Her supervisor warned her for her tardiness and possible discipline if it continued. I was the one who told her about ADA accommodation. Her supervisor didn’t and only threatened to write her up.

To be a good employee you have to be only 2 of the following three: punctual and reliable, great at your job, friendly and likable. In other words…if you’re great at your job and friendly…late can be overlooked. If your punctual and do your job well but you’re a grump- okay. If you’re reliable and friendly..but so-so at your job..all righty.

This is gray! Companies have a business to run. Example, schools, if you struggling to be on time at work, how are the kids learning? It affects the kids too. “Trouble sleeping sounds like a personal issue, they work 9-5,

I have a point system you get 10 when to get hired lose 1 ore 1.5 or 0.5 depending on how late you get, you get 2 a month if you are o time or don’t call in, if you get below 8 you’re verbally disciplined, 6 it’s documented and below that you are in risk to get fired

We had a lady who was late every morning. To the point where we would call her to see her eta and our call would wake her up. I wasn’t management, I was just the office manager’s assistant, but this lady was a hard worker, good at her job, and was preferred by several customers. I knew she was struggling at home. Her son was 20 yrs old and had 3 babies with 3 different women, they were all leaving the babies with him who would then disappear once she got home, leaving her to care for them herself. Her husband refused to help her in any way, so she was also providing for her grandkids. Essentially like a single mom, but without access to any assistance because she didn’t have custody. Her son would steal her car while she was asleep and leave her with no gas. She had health problems, her eyes were yellow and she was completely exhausted all the time. I honestly don’t know how she managed to show up for work at all. She was there every single day, just 30 mins-1 hour late. There were several things we could have done to make it work for her, and I suggested them, but the office manager bought her an alarm clock 🙃 And the boss eventually fired her. It’s funny, though. They ended up asking her to come back. They didn’t realize the weight she was pulling.

A large majority of Americans say their incomes aren't keeping pace with inflation, as they report prices around them either rising or staying the same. The latest CBS News polling shows wide concern about the ability to save or buy extras. As has been the case for years, prices drive so much of Americans' larger views: they say this factors the most into their assessment of the overall economy — which most continue to say is bad. And then among those who say their own finances aren't good, prices are the top reason why. This comes amid other economic indicators out lately, including that unemployment claims recently rose, the consumer confidence index dropped; and the S&P slid in recent days toward the end of February. Americans say their outlook for the next year is also mixed. Right now, people are more likely to say the economy is getting worse than better. Current circumstances play into this too: those most concerned about affording food today are also more apt to think things are getting worse. Evaluations, as is typical, show splits by financial circumstances though, and may speak to broader divides in the U.S. economy and in the impact of inflation. Americans who report higher incomes are far more likely to say their financial situation is good and are much more confident about their ability to save – though the majority of them, too, say income isn't keeping up with inflation. The outlook going forward remains mixed at best and is also tied to current circumstances. #economy #us #money #inflation A
