I love those move in specials. Especially when they let you prorate it out over the length of the lease. I spent most of my twenties moving from apartment complex to apartment complex just for the specials.

If you choose to buy property you want to make sure there aren't any PID or MUD fees on top of property taxes. Also just know with property taxes you will need to dispute the estimated house value to keep your taxes low because they base your property taxes in TX on the estimated value of the property in that year instead of the price you purchased the property for. But glad you are enjoying Houston. 🥰
