@remarkable.horde: D&D combat irl can 100% feel slow but most importantly through many TRRPG’s i’ve tried alot of them are crunchier and slow the key was never the system but the players. Flavoring actions paying attention when it’s not your turn and then knowing what you’re gonna do before your then comes TTRPG combat never needs to be long with attentive players! #dnd #dndtiktok #baldursgate3 #animetiktok #anime #animetok #hxh #hunterxhunter #ballknowledge
we once had an entire encounter be lile 2 and a half sessions

"I'll end this in 1 minute."
The minute lasts 30 to 60 minutes, full of drama, tension, hope, and heartbreak.
am I talking about anime or D&D?

Brock :
another problem is people spend way to much time discussing tactics throughout combat or looking for approval rather than acting how their character would. that "video game instinct" kicks in(that's what I call it at least) and everything has to be perfect rather than just trying your best.
if people actually did pay attention and plan ahead so they just go on their turn it'd solve 90% of that though I think.

I use my action to cover my eye (I don’t know why I do this but in this moment it just felt right)

Because game time isn’t real time try this experiment get a group of people and tell them to do an action in 6 seconds at the same time easily doable now tell them to speak the action instead and say it individually one at a time now how long does it take

It's always a player problem
I know people who have been playing for very long and in my second campaign ever I realized that they do not think about their turn until their turn starts
even worse they don't think about other players during their turn

I still think they should take the software from Powerwashing Simulator that plays the level at the end. It shows your character cleaning the whole area like a movie. Imagine if BG3 did this after a fight. The game pauses and then plays the fight out like a movie scene… so f-ing dooe

that's why I love the dnd movie, alot of the fights you can see where a "round" occurs, ESPECIALLY in the last fight, when the whole group is ganging up on the sorcerer, the camera pan around is exactly 6 seconds
