The point is to promote Filipino culture and support our street vendors who are trying to make a living something that foreigners will find interesting. They were there to represent their roots but I didn’t find the pride of being a Filipino. They felt disgusted instead of encouragement.

this is my thoughts about bini's latest interview where they tried filipino snacks. honestly, i found it really disappointing. i understand that everyone has their own taste, and not all filipino food will be everyone's favorite, but the way they reacted came off as dismissive and disrespectful. it’s not even about liking or disliking the food it’s about how you respond to something that represents your culture. they looked genuinely grossed out, and it felt like they weren’t even trying to appreciate it, which is frustrating knowing that they represent a group that’s supposed to uplift filipino pride.
as public figures carrying the name “bini,” they have a platform and influence especially among young filipinos and even international audiences. when they act like our own food is something to be ashamed of, it reflects poorly not just on them but on how filipino culture is perceived. you don’t have to love everything, but the least you can do is show curiosity and respect. it’s street food, yes, but it’s a huge part of our culture. millions of filipinos grew up with these dishes they hold memories, stories, and identity. cringing over it like it’s beneath you? that’s not it.

Their reactions are valid. They're there to represent PH and if nanging maarte sila well tama lang pag portray nila kasi ganun rin kaarte mga pinoy sa pagkain na ayaw nila dito sa pinas. Ampalaya o balut nga ang OA. And if you're offended by how they reacted, it means hiyang-hiya ka rin sa mga banyaga na makita na in reality ganun rin kaarte ang mga pinoys. At least they've represented for the past years with achievements and awards and introducing OPM globally. Eh yung bashers ano? palamunin tas picky pa yan sa ulam.
