ikea sells little plugs to pop in the holes along the sides. if you fill them with that caulk what if you want to move around yhe interior pieces later? the plugs are from the kitchen department and are really inexpensive.

everything is correct, custom furniture will definitely be more expensive, but it will also last 10 times longer. But Ikea will fall apart in 2-3 years.
