I finally got Progesterone and Estrogen, it's been a game changer. But, I have zero drive, should I be asking for Testosterone? (can't trust my doctor on this, I need to push for what I think is right)

Asked for HRT and first gynecologist refused and offered antidepressants. Said I wasn’t depressed and how would that help with my joint pain? Found another doctor and have been on HRT for a few years now and it’s been a complete life saver. Always get a second opinion.

Moving forward, can you read the quotes. It’s difficult for some of us to read and for our non-hearing folks. Help all folk, disabled or not, to keep up on the knowledge you share. Thank you!

My doc wanted me to go with antidepressants. Even though that would treat only one of my many symptoms. I begged for hrt. She finally gave in and prescribed premarin. Nope. I spent a year educating myself, thanks to you, and told her what I wanted, patch & prog. The only knowledge I have is from my reading over the past 2 years and I am more informed than my healthcare provider.

Doctors are scarce so a second opinion is not easy to find

Happened to me too. I was told I just needed to go back on my antidepressant and that it wasn’t time for HRT because I was still having fairly regular periods.

I had two doctors try to give me Wellbutrin and I refused to take them. I just hit full menopause and I was feeling very fatigued, my doctor increased my estrogen a little and it seems to be helping. I’ve been on HRT for about 2 years.

I'm in the UK but our guidelines advise HRT based on symptoms, they consider age to a degree as well. I asked could we trial it, could we see if an initial 2mth prescription would help and review 6wks in. I'm now two years in, doing so much better 😌

I'm doing both! The medication AND lifestyle/eating optimization. Not just relying on meds. It's helping! 🙏

I will never understand how drs hand out antidepressants like candy, but bio identical natural hormones? To replace lost hormones? ‘Oh hell no, think of the side effects…’ blah blah blah! Clearly the perks from the pharmaceutical companies are more lucrative when prescribing antidepressants. 👀

I fired my doctor after he refused to discuss it. Found a menopause clinic and 2 years on HRT later I am stronger with no more debilitating joint pain.

I was prescribed paxil 7.5mg taken at bedtime 2 weeks ago. My night sweats and hot flashes have stopped almost completely. I am now sleeping. I hadn't slept without hot flashes and night sweats for 3 years. It was worth a try for my symptoms.
