@the.globe.bytes: MALAYSIA'S JAC MINUTES LEAK! MORE HEADACHE FOR THE GOVERNMENT! A massive investigation has officially been launched by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) at Bukit Aman into the alleged leak and widespread dissemination of what is believed to be classified minutes from a Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) meeting. This purported May document, which first surfaced on Reddit and rapidly went viral on social media, has ignited widespread public concern and intense scrutiny on Malaysia's judicial independence and government integrity. The probe is focusing on both the internal source of the JAC meeting leak and its rapid online dissemination, under serious charges like Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act 1972. Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed that the Classified Crime Investigation Unit (USJT) is handling the case, also citing Section 203A of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. Meanwhile, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has acknowledged the police report but emphasized that the government has yet to officially verify the authenticity of the leaked document, though he warned that if legitimate and classified, the OSA would indeed apply. This high-stakes situation is "likely" to be discussed at the Cabinet level next week, underscoring its gravity, particularly given Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's attentiveness to such matters. The timing of this purported leak is critical, emerging amidst serious allegations of attempts to influence judicial appointments, especially following the recent retirement of former Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun. Lawmakers, legal observers, and the public are now vocally calling for a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI), with some comparing the potential severity to the infamous VK Lingam scandal of the 2000s. The Malaysian Bar is even planning a public march to demand an independent inquiry, highlighting the profound implications for national governance. Why does a leader who claimed to champion reform does not want to act to reform the judiciary system?

This is absolutely unacceptable. The leak is a technicality but the more relevant question is whether the judiciary is under attack. If there is interference in the workings of the judiciary the police should investigate.
