I am dealing with the opposite situation. We just had our 840 sqft two story deck replaced. There was a footing inspection done before the posts went in and then once the deck was “finished”, an inspector came out to do the framing and final. The inspector spent approximately 2 minutes looking at the deck and then approved it. There are so many obvious structural concerns and code violations that my list is five pages long. Thankfully the inspection supervisor came back out at my request and pulled the approval. Apparently the permit was pulled for a tiered deck, not a two story deck. We have an engineer coming tomorrow to inspect it.

30 inches could be for frost protection for her location? OR FOR GUARDD!!! Still confused. Made them go out 4 ft w dirt? It seems like there are guards plus, thaley can easily just remove that.

In my experience and opinion this person is confusing prior approvals and building permits.
