I went into this as an interconnected standalone, and now I'm rushing to add the first one to my TBR. This is found family trope done right. The friendships that Arden makes feel real, and I went through all the emotions with her. Complicated childhood? Written beautifully. For anyone who has a complicated relationship with a parent, you need to read this book. Banter and angst? I was kicking my feet reading this. I stayed up so late that my eyes went blurry, and I physically couldn't see enough to read anymore. Temper and rage? This is one of the best touch her and d!e tropes I've ever read. Carter having anger issues in DEFENSE of women was EVERYTHING.
