Groomer here! You definitely asked for this without asking for this. What exactly did you say? No groomer would just do this for fun! Next time just ask for an outline trim.

Professional groomer here, and the only real significant cutting that should be done on a golden retriever. Even a Pet is shaving out the pads, possibly a sanitary area trim with the clipper if the dog is particularly hairy there, but most are not. Trimming the tops of the feet sometimes trimming excessive ear hair, especially if they have Spay coat behind the ears which causes matting and you can trim up the outline if the owners prefer a more scissor look, but you should never be taking clippers to a body what the actual hell ill behaved or not I still cannot follow Why clippers were taken to this dogs body.

im a groomer, im very confused😅 even if a student did do this groom, theyre supposed to be overseen by their salon managers or whatever petsmart calls them. im not going to shit on corporate salons because for one, i work corporste and two while some corporate salons are.. questionable, some are really great!! the input i would give you is if he is partially the problem i would look into a private salon potentially? private salons arent always better than corporate BUT sometimes they can be a less stressful environment than corp. however if you do choose to continue to go to petsmart/petco in the future, just ask for a light trim on the feathers or a profile trim!

6th groomer is crazy, you’re also not supposed to shave goldens it ruins their coat and most of the time they do turn out super choppy. This does look like a terrible job though petsmart sucks at training people

for those who say don't groom goldens let's be clear then need to still be brushed and bathed often depending on exposure to lakes pinds polls etc... they can have trims where their featherings are cleaned up or trimmed but not full clippings preferably people do it it's not good for the coat

I can guarantee you that the owner asked for this this coat should’ve not been cut. Majority of groomers will not cut a golden retriever coat unless the owner has specifically asked for it as someone who works for a corporate law. I always make my clients very aware of the negative side effects that can come from cutting a double coated dog, some people change their mind and others don’t and we are just forced to groom their dog the way they want

The groomer should’ve talked to you out of shaving him. I guarantee you you told her he’s shedding and you want him shorter. She should’ve done a D shed and an outline trim, which requires no clippers on the fur. Congratulations your dog has coat shock.

Depending on where you live if you need a groomer, let me know who I’ve been working with dogs for 14 years and grooming for 10 of them. I’ve had a golden retriever before I have a mini Aussie right now. I know how to work with the code if you need any help.
