The only hints were in bbs, where guardian popped out, but Terra was trying to light the way with trinity, 0,2, where Terra couldn’t understand how Aqua saw him as he once was. and 3d where Riku remembered his promise to Terra, and Guardian reached out for Riku’s key.

to be fair if you only play 1, 2, and 3 you wouldn't know. I didn't play bbs and DDD I til recently because I didn't have the hand held systems when they originally released
