My ‘hound mix’ probably ‘50 ish pound’ diva turned out to be a jack Russel chihuahua and who barely breaks 20 pounds covered in the most perfect freckles. It’s year 7 with her and I’d die for her

When my mom worked at the humane society here a hound came in and her previous owners had attempted to cut her tongue out and she had a nasty cut on her nose as well. The lady who ran the humane society said to put her down bc the cut on her nose was infected and the lady insisted she had distemper since green was coming from her nose. My mom asked if they could do a snap test bc she didn’t think she was a distemper pup. The lady said said it’d be a waste and followed through with a kill order. She was only 3 weeks at the time so my mom through a wet rag into a body bag and snuck her out the back door in her coat pocket and we bottle fed her and raised her. By the end of it, we realized we couldn’t just give away her like a regular foster. So, we kept her until she passed away in 2014 at 12years old 🥰

I think hounds are so stubborn because of their instincts for hunting. I think that frustrates people who maybe see other hounds and think they will be easy. I’ve got a lab/ridgeback mix, and her instincts to chase are on point. I have to be on the lookout and encourage her not to yank me about on the leash. But she is super protective of me and very loving. We got her a little black cat who she loves.

I have a coonhound and she is simply the best most love able baby. I saw someone say that hounds won’t kill for you but they will die protecting you and I think that perfectly describes their love and loyalty. Thank you for helping this baby 💕

Oh no 😭 All dogs rescued from bad situations make my heart hurt but something about seeing them so skinny is instant waterworks. I hope you can bring joy back to those pretty eyes ❤️🩹

I’ve always fostered medical needs dogs. I had one that had a staff infection on her neck and she had just delivered puppies and she also had an eye injury and then I had a pitbull pre-and post leg amputation, her story is on my channel a little ways down. Then I had two Frenchies that both required airway surgeries. And my last was a foster fail who lost all her puppies and they were decomposing in her uterus.

Aweeee. It breaks my heart. I think ppl get tired of the stubbornness and antics of hounds. If someone who has a hound but it is not an excuse for ppl to treat them bad

So as a hound owner I can tell you most people aren’t prepared for hounds. Also, living places like NC where hounds are hunting dogs, I’m talking BEAR hunting dogs that a lot of the backwoods country boys will literally just release with tracking collars on to fend for themselves outside of hunting season, hounds are probably more mistreated than any other breed it’s just not widely known.
