Girl, the staring thing is cultural, it's not because you're racially ambiguous. I am an average white Portuguese woman and if I go into a cafe, everyone stares. It's what we do, it's not racist. I'm not saying there's no racism in Portugal bc there definitely is a whole lot, but the staring isn't part of it.

Portugal is not cheap like that, salaries at €870 and very expensive cost of living! Rooms at 600/800€, living alone is impossible. Many people who have lived here for years being evicted to give spaces to those who can pay double! An immigrant point of view living in Portugal different from your American point of view
