As a black women I am so sorry. We laughing and joking, I don’t want you to feel bad. This is just the culture appropriation we talk about. They tell the innocent like you this is something new and call it something new then you get it and it’s our style to protect our hair and it really damaged yours and that really PMO I can’t lie. 🥺

So you 🫵🏿 (non Korean), went to a Korean stylist, to get "Korean hair extensions", in Korea Town in LA and you're shocked your hair fell out? 🤔. Learn what your hair texture can and can't do. And maybe stop doing things like this 😬

This is why we tell yall not to get braids, no matter the rebrand, it is not for your hair type! I know its a “cool” “new” thing for you, but its always best to research what ur getting. The weight was too much, those braids & braids n general are meant for coily hair!

No, you called it the “right thing” it’s just rebranded but we call it micros or pick and drops. It’s damaging to your type of hair but has no affect on ours. Some times when another culture takes from a different culture they don’t do the proper research. Lack of research caused this damage to you and I’m sorry this happened. I’m glad you’re warning others so they can do research as well.

Black women have been telling us for years what will happen to our hair if we do tight braids… im sorry this happened tho. Cut off a few inches & start babying your hair! Lots of oil and loose styles!

Ok, yeah. I see the traction alopecia now. I was agreeing with all the other statements because I am a hairstylist that's why I wanted to see the scalp. Also with regular shedding in hair extensions it is normal to see some of those little white ends but since you're having sparseness on the scalp that's definitely traction alopecia

Got extensions at the same place you went to...the owner chops cuts hair to make the extensions blend in, when I took them out I my hair was just very choppy. I didnt loose hair, but it did feel thinner, im assuming because of the how she cut my hair. Sorry you didnt have the best experience/result

It IS called Korean braided Extensions, you was right! I'm living in Korea, right now also have this Extensions, but my hair is healthy. I guess the Lady in US was maybe not skillful enough, bc all people i know here in Korea who have this Extensions ( btw also korean woman have this Extensions a lot) don't have any problems with their real hair. Last year I went to another Shop and I was absolutely not happy about the Korean Extensions, they hurt me the first 2 nights, it was definitely too heavy and after i got them out, my hair also was a bit damaged, but now I've found a really good Hairdresser and since I'm there, I don't have any problems... the opposite is the case: My hair grow so fast and they are so healthy. So I think you just had bad luck with a bad Stylist. But yeah, you called that right! Don't understand the hate you get...🙄 Just ignore it. Wish you all the best :-)

It’s not your fault. It’s the stylist appropriating something they’ve seen.

It’s not your fault for misnaming it. It’s an age-old tale of black styles being repackaged/branded for non black hair and people suffering the consequences. Even in the black community we stay away from micros unless you wanna lose your edges

I don’t mean to sound rude but I think it shows you for future reference that you have to research about something before you get it done to see if it fits your hair type or not. But on a side note I think it’s heavily the salons fault as well for not turning you away but also trying to lie to you about the integrity of your hair

Extension expert 😭😭😭 but sis your hair actually looks okay here. Don’t let them do that again!!! Straight hair doesn’t tolerate shit like that. But also from shedding some hair does come out when you take out protective styles

oh noo and the hair got plucked from the follicle! I definitely think it was a combination of tension of the micro braids +the weight of them😞

No you called it the right thing but what the comments were trying to say is micro braids (which are similar to the k-braid ins) aren’t for certain textures and can cause a lot of damage. Castor oil, amla oil and tea tree oil my girl, it’ll get better
