@mschanggifted: Personally I like a more balanced calendar but yeah returning to school Mid-July is tough #backtoschool #summerbreak #teacher #mschanggifted
I also love a balanced calendar. Those extra breaks come at the perfect time in the year.

I hate the long summers! I wish we had a more balanced schedule with a week off every six weeks and and extra two week breaks.

Holidays haven't even started in Britain. Autumn term usually starts in early September, except for Scotland and Northern Ireland, who start their holidays a few weeks earlier and therefore go back mid August. I believe the dates for England & Wales originally had something to with children working the peak of harvest.

We go back on the 24th! I've loved being on summer break, but I do get tired of not having anything to do. I will definitely be ready to get back to work by next Thursday 😅

My district started a similar schedule two years ago. I love it. We go back this Friday, and the kids return the following Wednesday. It is a little bit of a mental hurdle to wrap your brain around going to school in mid July, but I've gotten used to it now. I also really appreciate it when I get my 2 weeks off every 9 weeks in addition to all the regular school holidays.

The school system near me does it like yours and I honestly think it’s so much better. They also do early release days on Wednesdays for planning and meeting. And for my neurospicy friends it gives more consistency.

We are in Savannah. My grandson starts on Aug 4th. When my kids were young, they were in the Gwinnett Co system. In the early years, they would go back 2nd or 3rd week of August. Slowly but surely, each year it seemed like we would start a day or two earlier until it came to starting the 1st week of August. Coming from the NE, I am not a fan of a shortened summer break.

Several schools in NW GA have the same breaks as you throughout the school year but do not start back until the last week of July! They surround my county that gives us nothing extra and still makes us start back in July. 😢 I’m jealous of your extra weeks!
