High walls combined with narrow paths does 2 things. Creates more shade throughout the day, and all the stores because of their constant doors opening are basically fanning AC out into that narrow walkway and since you’re physically not that far from said doors at any given time. It’s essentially like having a bunch of fans running around you

alll the a/c pouring out all the open doors. like the leaky cauldron,and gringotts. I feel it walking by the train station.

The architecture/tight design is a big part of it but I also think the building materials help a lot. Brick, for instance, is pretty abundant there and is a natural day time cooling material (and night time heating)

When I sat on the stairs near the dragon I noticed it too. I was thinking it must be the tall walls that’s mostly shading the ground and all the open spaces with A/C like the shops and knockturn alley. It’s very narrow. It’s amazing honestly.

I’ve noticed this too! My guess is because there are sooo many air conditioned stores side by side and with the height of the buildings, it traps it in the alley.
