Makes sense for Pearl too, as when we were first introduced to poofing, she took her time and when she reformed was totally calm. This is probably because she was able to hold her form for a bit before poofing to reassure Steven. The others were poofed rather abruptly and violently

A detail that I just love about amethyst is when we see her reform after getting poofed by jasper, when she reforms she knows shes reforming and forces it to go faster, clenching at the sand doing everything she can to get her shape to hold so she can protect steven and Connie 😭❤️I just think its cute

Only if they were bubbled right after! When pearl got poofed she didn't regenerate for a while by choice, she needed some time to think (and MAYBE choose her new look, although I'm not sure if it works like that but it's nice to think about) and when she did come back, she said "ahh, missed me much?" so she knew how much time passed (also when Steven told garnet that pearl wouldn't regenerate, she replied with "she's taking her time in there, huh?". Also, this one time Amethyst got poofed after an argument and wouldn't regenerate for three days pearl said "what is she doing in there" to what garnet replied "give her some time, she needs to process what happened". I like to think that when a gem gets bubbled, time literally pauses for them, but when not bubbled they (or their "light form") just get sent inside the gem and it's their own choice how long they're gonna stay in there BUT THAT'S JUST MY THEORY FROM WHAT I REMEMBER, there might be something I missed that tells us otherwise, hope that still cleared some things up tho! <3

Gems can rebuild their physical forms so they know that they have been poofed but with peridot, that was probably her first time being poofed and that’s why she was shocked, and jasper got shattered so she had no memory of poofing at all, from her pov she just teleported
