I know that Nigerian parenting can be a little extreme and it's not funny when you're being "corrected" but looking back now as an adult, I'm glad my parents disciplined me good. I'm a better adult for it.

Parents should not be abusive to their kids, instead try to make peace with them and try every way possible to help them understand without abuse. The role of a parent is to be by their kids side and help them develop even if some of them might be annoying.
