@manderville: Our pool was put in in the early 80s and was constructed very well. Over the years all the harsh chemicals have taken a toll on the plaster and needed to be replaced. After interviewing many companies we chose Austin Pool plastering company and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. As you see here, we’re refilling the pool for the first time with the new plaster. There’s plastic over it to keep debris from blowing in to the water before treatment starts. This has been a long process and I made videos here you can go back and see each step. Quite fascinating to watch. In the 70s and 80s pool plaster contained asbestos which created a longer life for the plaster but as we know asbestos, when it breaks down, is harmful to human health. Today’s plaster does not contain asbestos and sadly it doesn’t last as long. If you’re on the fence about whether to resurface your pool or not, just do it …you’ll be so happy you did. This plaster will last for up to 15+ years.
