@alishacollinsrealestate: Replying to @imjustjoeking71 HOA — love it or hate it? 🏘️ This comment really got me thinking 👇 They said they pay $290/month — not a ton, depending on what it includes. And honestly, that’s the key 🔑 I just sold a condo with a $295/mo HOA that included heat (🙌 hello, winter in Wyoming), one parking space, and maintenance of the common areas… even the pool (well, when it’s working 😅). In my area, most HOAs aren’t monthly — but the few that are typically cover snow removal ❄️ and lawn care 🌱, which adds up fast if you’re paying someone to do it separately. Then you’ve got your annual HOAs — some as low as $125/year — just covering mailbox stations or private road maintenance. 🏡 So the big question isn’t “Is an HOA bad?” — it’s: ➡️ What does it include? ➡️ Is it saving you money or costing you more? I’d love to know: 💬 How much is your HOA? 📍Where do you live? 👍 And do you think it’s worth it? 275 monthly in Searcy Arkansas. It’s a small gated community. The Hoa maintains the gate, the flowers( lots of landscaping) they mow the grass, maintain the sprinkler system and trim the shrubs. As a widow… it’s nice not to have to maintain a yard.

And for the record, that $290 includes: pool, landscaping/mowing, snow removal (streets/sidewalks), exterior maintenance of building (roof/siding/brickwork/porch), common area maintenance, flood insurance, and water (we pay no water bill!) 😀

HOA absolutely for a condo because there are mutual structural things to maintain. however, I want a deep dive on the financials. owners spend DECADES voting down fee increases and deferring maintenance until the building is ready to fall down, then you get stuck with huge special assessments. no HOA for a house.

my HOA has gone from $175 in 2023, to $185 in 2024, to $216 now... no pool, no playground, they took away snow removal,it does include mowing, trash along with a few other things that come with a townhome bc I do live in a townhome.. it went up to 216$ a month bc 5 homes in 2024 did not pay their dues

$300 (condo): landscaping, snow removal, pool, trash, water, road maintenance, ponds. Covers way more than my HOA in California. So I’ll take it.

that 290 can double or triple with zero notice. I bought a condo that had been shorting their reserve fund

I have an acre of property. In NO WORLD does it cost me $200/mo for lawn work! I literally pay half that. And "common areas"? The whole point of owning a home is so you have privacy. If you have to share, what is the point? And the trade off is they get a say in everything you do. You're paying them to take your privacy and freedom.

this is about 105 grand over 30 years. the same money invested over the same period is almost 300 grand at 6 percent interest. unless your homes value will increase by that much it's not really worth it.

$370/month ...covers roof, outside insurance, outside painting, lawn service, pressure cleaning, outside pest control, and cable. I save a lot of insurance since I only need to cover the inside.

a condo HOA with services included I don't feel is like what most people are talking about. most people are talking about single family houses that are in HOAs where they may have access to a common area but no services provided but they have a bunch of Karen's and ridiculous rules
