@thewritersrush: I praise God because he told me to go quiet, to lower my head and to remember who I am without when I am focused taking care of me. We studied 1 Samuel 24 in Bible study yesterday; reading about David showing mercy on Saul. David could’ve sought revenge, but he offered mercy because mercy triumphs against revenge. And if you had asked me in 2021 whether or not I would ever give mercy and forgive, it would’ve been a hard no; but God showed me humans who were in pain like me, sometimes they listen to the pain, or the world and that stirs actions and discourse. Like Saul when he sought David. But David and Saul were both anointed, both Gods people; and I know that hurt people hurt people. That’s why mercy triumphs against revenge. It stops the domino effect of hate and violence, it separates it from fruition and stands as evidence that when we offer mercy in place of violence, there is still good and kindness; and there still is Gods people seeking forgiveness. I pray over those I used to hate because it brings me peace to want a better life, a better mentality and a better moral mindset for them.
