@herspeakingcoach: Here’s the story… Walking to my gate at 6:30am half-asleep, I spotted 3 Qantas staff behind the service desk. Clearly it had been a long shift. Low morale. You know the vibe. So I stopped. And offered them a coffee. Ever since I was a little girl I watched my dad, Steve, offer coffee or food, funny jokes and random acts of kindness to strangers. It was a weekly occurrence. So much so, it became known in our house that running errands with him always took twice as long, because 10 minutes would turn into 30 as he stopped to connect with every person he saw along the way. The elderly, the homeless, hospitality staff or construction workers. Safe to say, it’s something I’ve learned to deeply value. Every time I do it, I feel connected to him. It costs $5 to potentially make someone’s day. It costs $0 to be kind. And it goes to show, a conversation can open many doors. Oh, and @Qantas?
