I think they didn't because they knew this would be the highest price bag ever sold. It was a business strategy to further enshrine the Birkin as the IT bag forever. It wouldn't have been the same if it wasn't a private collector.

l saw a close up video of the bag. The condition is a little damaged around the edges, did the previous owner not give it a good spa day ever😱 leather needs Love❤️
