How do i fix it? I've been a gifted kid all my life, went trough high-school with the best grades of my country without ever studying, learned how to do the rubiks cube by myself at 5yo. More than half of my family is or has been a professional athlete, so naturally i have great genetics for sports as well, same with music and art. My parents did all of these "mistakes" while parenting me, but i don't blame them at all Now I'm on my second year of physics and technological engineering and I'm struggling, i don't know how to study, and just the idea that I'll have to start studying makes me wanna give up

Exactly… I use to be so smart as a kid, but as an adult I’m a mess. I constantly quit everything that implies effort or it’s not giving me immediately results. 🙄

As a non gifted kid who had to study and had to work hard for what I got. This is an interesting take. I would compare myself to these people who seemed to not be trying at all. Felt like a failure, questioned why I wasn’t “naturally smart”. I’m still working hard, putting myself through school while working

And once a gifted child “fails” at maths for example, they continue doing so because they can’t ask for help. They struggle to ask for help because they’ve always been self sufficient and independent. They are wired different

I was that child that found schooling in grade school so easy. My mom never over praised me nor compared any of my siblings to me. She instead enrolled me in older kids math weekend class. Enrolled us in dancing class that i wasn't the best. It pushed me to work for what i want & made me realisef i'm just good at schooling, not in all things

This made me think about my parents. Incredible how they did exactly what you suggested, without even finishing the 4th grade. I've been good with numbers my entire life, but instead of praising my talent, they spent my whole youth saying "Without a job and without studying, that's not enough" Thank you God for my parents.

Now, this is the most beautiful, wisest and best coaching advice I’ve ever listened too.. you are blessed sir.. Talent is not everything, back in school, I didn’t learn that much to pass my exam.. I just brush through the sheets and I’ll pass and this happens naturally for me.. now, just one day I had to deal with failure and it was a huge nightmare for me.. your speech makes too much sense..

Past „gifted“ Child here my family always told me that Im special I could write speak understand more than all the other kids in Kindergarden and the 1st grade was like you described just so easy I was gliding through school it was so easy to the point where I became so good that the teachers Said „yeah you should move a class above because this is too easy for you“ but my father didnt do that so I became the laziest student like ever haha and got worse in school to the point where I am not even a B student anymore 💔
