for all the people not getting it.. imagine this. if you had an infinite volume of air. in this volume you had a plane. no earth or any other reference to indicate any sort of speed. then it would not matter to the plane if it is moving forward or the air volume is moving towards the plane. all a airplane needs to fly is air moving around its wings, how that air ends up moving around its wings does not matter for the airplane.

This is an optical illusion btw, airplanes need to be moving forward to create lift. If it was completely stationary, unless it had a vertical propulsion system, which it doesnt, itd literally fall out of the sky. Thats part of the reasons why large commercial airlines, or any airline for that matter literally isnt allowed to fly in winds above 54mph.

How dangerous is that? i mean you are not gonna fall, but if you are not moving.... what would be the plan if the wind doesn't stop or diminish? change route and airfield?. Also what if the headwind is stronger than your engine? so many questions... sorry 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I've done that. In a canoe. I'm pretty sure I'll take the plane option. It's a LOT less work than paddling for 40 minutes- full out; before you start moving forward. And, no. We couldn't turn- at all. Or we'd be in the water. I've never thought of this concept though. Very cool post!
