Eh 🥴 I think the UMC has a LONG WAY to go before we are ever a church that does no harm. I guess we’re making lgbtqi+ progress, but we’re still a long way off to doing no harm to a lot of others.

If I didn’t believe we could change and be better I could not have given my life to this work. There is no way I could be a Pastor if I didn’t think it was possible. Can we truly be followers of the Triune God and not believe Heaven on Earth is possible?

On the surface, this all sounds wonderful. But when we look at the UMC’s treatment of many from the queer community over the last few years, all in the name of “inclusion,” we see a different story. The way churches were essentially forced out of the denomination for believing and obeying their own Book of Discipline was WRONG! The way this has left many in the queer community to feel that they’ve been abandoned by their churches, who probably left the denomination because of the “limited time offer”-style threat of losing their property if they didn’t leave, not because of issues of sexuality, is WRONG! The way this makes congregates in churches who have chosen to leave the denomination seem as if we’re not still allies who love the queer community is WRONG! The way the UMC has seemed to adopt a “Don’t like it? Find a different church!” mantra that overlooks queer people and allies in small/rural communities who can’t simply find another local UMC now that their current churches have left the UMC (and may not want to find another church when they feel deeply tied to their current church families) is WRONG! And the way the UMC is currently priding itself on its inclusivity while overlooking all that pain and division it has caused over the past few years is extremely WRONG! …You seem like a loving pastor, and genuinely and respectfully, thank you for that. ❤️In your reflections on how the UMC…or any church…can be fully inclusive, please consider these things, too.

As someone who has been evangelical, primarily southern Baptist and non-denominational, my entire life, I am considering exploring the UMC. Seems much more open minded and less political. If anyone is in this denomination I would appreciate hearing your experiences.

I have faith in Jesus. I believe Jesus died as a sacrificial lamb to forgive us of our sin. I believe we are to turn away from sin. We still struggle. Nobody is perfect, but we shouldn’t be ok with our sin.

some churches not only harm people but destroy people's life🖤 just watch what Itown Church in Fishers Indiana is doing to local people. Search for 'The Truth About Itown Church ' they sent me to JAIL as trespassing for asking questions and using a 🌈 pin on my jacket 😭😭😭 more than 500 other people's hurt by this church.
