Best advice I ever got was to put literally whatever on your registry. If someone doesn’t get it-no big deal. But someone out there might just buy you that random thing you really wanted. I put a tablesaw on there because I wanted to make my own frames for my art-didn’t think anyone would buy it. But my uncle Uncle did.

Maybe word it as "we love to find things for our house at small boutiques and vintage stores, and are undecided on what we need right now, if you'd like to donate to our house pot, we'll be sure to show you the beautiful items we find in the future with your generous gift" ... I totally agree with you but family always have their own ideas and opinions and you can't win, try as hard as possible and let it go if it doesn't work out

I didn't have a registry for this exact reason! People just gave us cash or gift cards! I thought it was fine! And for the relatives that were HELLBENT on a gift, I picked something out for them to gift us

100percent. We did not have a registrey (bit mostly because the whole idea is tacky). People kept asking so finally we said cash (I’m Indian, this is not considered tacky) and told everyone we would use the cash to take 6 months off and travel, which we did. This was back in 1996.

Do a honeymoon fun instead . You can do that on Zola just write “we don’t want physical gifts, but if you’d like to give us a gift you can donate to our honeymoon fund for us to go to this place. And to make it more fun people can buy specific thing spoke “dinner in Tokyo” or “snow monkey sanctuary tour” or whatever

I custom built our registry from our favorite local shops around Brooklyn that included ‘untraditional’ things we loved and we would use (vintage table cloths, Japanese cookware, one of a kind hand blown glasses, Gordo beans, a pre order of a new book we wanted etc). And people just gave us cash 😅 ... I don’t think people got it lol

Highly recommend over the moon. They have a curated collection on there but you can also add links for anything! Easy user experience for you and your guests. I found as long as you have a variety of price points, most people like the unique items
