It’s a surreal experience—and one of the few places where you can still hike right up to the base of a glacier without any technical gear. 🥾 Hike Details: • Trailhead: Many Glacier Hotel or Grinnell Glacier Trailhead • Length: ~11 miles roundtrip (or ~7.5 miles if you take the boat shuttle) • Elevation gain: ~1,600 ft • Difficulty: Moderate to Challenging • Time: 4.5–6 hours depending on pace & stops ⛴️ Optional: You can shave off ~3.5 miles by booking the Scenic Boat Ride across Swiftcurrent Lake and Lake Josephine through Glacier Park Boat Company (get there early or book in advance). 🎟️ Permits & Fees: • You’ll need a Glacier National Park entrance pass ($35 per vehicle for 7 days) • From late May to mid-September, a Vehicle Reservation is also required to enter the Many Glacier area between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. (book it on recreation.gov) 🚘 Getting There: • This trail is in the Many Glacier region, separate from Going-to-the-Sun Road. 📌 TIP: Bring bear spray.
