I LOL’d when you asked “What do I benefit from you doing Mariah Carey’s hair?” Because like for real?

it's not just for celebrities, I think being a personal assistant is a awful job period. I also thought it was just scheduling work and personal meeting, spa or restaurant reservations, pick up dry cleaning/ prescription ect. before I knew it I had to learn stuff about yachts and buying boat replacement parts, going through 100s emails to find something to get out of a lawsuit. Rich people are not the most considerate people, very impatient and entitled, Boundaries are constantly being pushed. Unless you really really need a job or find a good boss didn't do it. I'm 1 year out from being able to retire so I'm trying to just make it thru but it's soul crushing, I dread the next day, I have anxiety even on my rest days because of the anticipation for when I have to work.

I would’ve screamed at 20! By the way, working in HOLLYWOOD for these people, you have to find the right “rich”. Too rich and they are too cheap, it’s a delicate dance. I would NEVER work for the guy that you are talking about. 20?!,!

I think your experience is totally valid, but it also sounds very specific to that situation — and honestly, this can happen with clients in any industry. As a rule of thumb: the moment a client starts bargaining your work, it’s a NO. No matter how desperate or broke you feel, please trust that there are people out there who will appreciate your talent and happily pay your worth. You don’t need to settle for less. 💯

I was a PA for a fitness instructor in West Hollywood for 3 years. She worked very closely to multiple Bravo reality tv stars and thought she was one as well because of it. The money was great, it helped me pay off my tuition but I ultimately had to quit bcuz she made me question my morals and I lost a bit of self respect everytime I had to do something for her I didn’t agree with but did it anyways for the sake of money. I was young only 21 and I’ve learned to have a backbone since then but I’ll never working for those ppl again. I see rich people very differently now too

I work for a celebrity stylist and everyone we work with who works with celebrities is lovely. But I also live in London and I think actor/celebrity culture is very different in the UK than it is in the US.

Hahah I worked for a celebrity hair stylist…. They’re always on edge. I was hired for their mother, but he had me taking care of his kid and the dogs since I was “already in the home.” 😂

$500k for personal assistant or me knowing they will give me a strong recommendation to the gig I want. Otherwise it’s pointless to be a personal assistant.
