this is such a big issue in the autism community, because men with autism are allowed to get away with so much SA because "they don't understand", no they do understand they just don't care

my son is autistic and this is exactly how he is as well except my son is 10 and thanks to his school and everyone else around him we are teaching him how to behave and how to act around others. this is his parents fault 100 percent

I'm autistic, while its a spectrum disorder, its also NOT AN EXCUSE. we can learn, and parents who don't allow us to grow are basically abusive.

In swahili we say, asiyefunzwa na mamaye, hufunzwa na ulimwengu. If your mama don't teach you, the universe will. In this case the universe is the kid's brother

Parents who think the world will coddle their kids just because they do cause so much harm to their child without realizing until it's too late.

There are no IEPs or accommodations in the back of a police car and parents won’t be able to intervene. If you don’t teach your children how to function in society, life will. The lesson won’t be gentle but it will be learned.

I’m autistic and I’m not a bully, I might not be able to read a room but I understand the word “No”

I have an autistic cousin, he’s 18 years old. His parents NEVER let him behave violently towards others and not correct that behavior. Just because kids are autistic does not mean they’re incapable of understanding consequences and being disciplined

Disability is not inability! My son is autistic and I have ALWAYS given consequences for actions. It takes a long time but you have to keep at it.

I’m autistic. This behavior isn’t due to autism. Missing social cues is one thing. Forcing yourself on others is another. Needing to learn to navigate conversations through pattern recognition is not a license to act aggressively. Getting frustrated is not the same as targeting someone who doesn’t want to hang out with you.

As the mother of an autistic child, a large part of the blame is definitely the parents. I've had many discussions with my son about how to treat others. I made sure he went through years of therapy. He's a well adjusted 18 yo now, about to start college 💜

I have a 17yo that is high functioning with severe ADHD & ODD. I tel him all the time that his diagnoses don’t give him the right to be an a$$hole. Another friend uses the phrases “A judge won’t care about your IEP.”

my son is 4 and autistic, and definitely is higher on the spectrum....i absolutely dont let him behave that way, and if he does, i correct it and apologize. because....EXCUSE ME??? be his parents, not his friends. no excuse to enable that shit behavior, ever

The thing is, they are not one offs. He 1. Is intentionally doing these things consistently. Not just an immediate reaction, but long term and different ways of bullying 2. Does not believe he is wrong so he’s not remorseful or trying to do better

this is so scary, what if a girl says NO , his parents need to have a very serious word with him and there needs to be some consequences before it is too late and he ends up in prison

Too many parents think that the world will just lay down for their child regardless of a disability and they are doing that child a HUGE disservice!

Hi :
Nah all the adults need to be holding him accountable & keeping a close eye on him. he’s showing veryyy dangerous signs. his behavior will get exponentially worse before he even reaches adulthood unless he gets proper attention and treatment

my mom and brother were defending a guy who was allegedly recording little g's changing and petting a little g just because he was autistic and that he didn't know any better and I'm like no that's a 30 year old man he should know better but they kept defending him like what bro thats not an excuse and never should be

if the parents think people should defend their younger siblings from bullying, then what's their problem? that's exactly what happened 😒
