If the opponent is armored the answer is the axe. Also the only conceivable way the chakram could be useful in close quarters is if the enemy thrusts, you could potentially have their blade go through the middle, then you twist and disarm. But that would take a lot of practice and skill to pull off

Some Chakrams didn't have one continuous blade. Some in fact actually had a handle like a sword. Because Chakrams just had to be a circle shape.

fun fact about tomahawks the native Americans also made peace hawks which are just tomahawks with the handle hollowed out, a mouth piece at the end, and a bowl where the hammer part of the axe head would normally be and you can smoke out of them. my grandfather actually used to make a bunch and they are really neat. Just wanted to share a cool story from my childhood
