I never knew about the days of the week but learned about the holidays a few years ago. the way my mouth fell open in shock. I was raised Christian and was an UBER Christian for many years. now....spiritual and believe in a higher power but no one specific one and I've loved learning about all the different viewpoints and celebrations. and I never plan to go back.

Norse paganism isn’t taken seriously because it’s looked at like a storybook. They don’t realize that the havamal and the eddas are not meant to be taken literally but more of like a metaphorical speech. Most Americans are in doctrine into Christianity or Mormonism by their elders. My grandma used to take me to church every Sunday when I was young. I didn’t know what it was, but as I grew up, I learned the word of God and as I grew older, I learned that the word of God was just a means for oppressor to oppress. I have great respect for all religions that believe in human equality.

this is so true. once someone asked me if I "actually believe in Freyja", im still mad about it because this person saw my entire Freyja altar and still didn't take it seriously

They are actually named after the Germanic gods. Norse people are just the Northern Germanic tribes. The entire Germanic world was a version of the same faith. Easter is actually named after the Anglo Saxon version is Ostara, Eostre. Not being a dick. I just like to talk about it

I was pagan for a few years after leaving Christianity. I'm just agnostic now. I still love paganism and the people who practice it. Much better community than Christianity.
