Chanterelle ID tips: Look for deep golden color, wrinkly ridges that fork towards the margins and run down the stem (decurrent), a fruity (apricot-like!) aroma, and solid, not hollow stems. True chanterelles grow from the ground, often in lines that sketch out the paths of water or tree roots.
