Nz banking system is best in the world! I am a kiwi living in Florida and I find the banking is a bit backward and complicated

"I'll internet bank you" 🤣🤣 that's a funny way of saying it. we tend to just say I'll transfer you the money

Also I cannot believe the US doesn’t have internet banking! I was transferring money directly from my bank account to another’s in 2009!

The "kiwi close" is usually tied to a slow shift, where that extra 10 or so minutes of possible revenue will not be worth running costs of staying open.
Eg. Takeaway shop, quiet shift. Everyone on hourly wage at least of 23.50. Whatever possible purchase might be made in that time won't cover keeping the staff there that bit longer, keeping the utilities on etc. So to ensure profit, boss/management will have an early close

not just penny's, we also don't have nickels. rounding also works both ways, if the total is 5.02, a $5 note is all you need. We also include tax in the listed price, not adding it after the fact.

kiwi close is usually at cafes and such as they usually close kitchen and coffee makers early to give staff chance to clean up and get home at a reasonable time.

I’m amazed you use cash much in NZ. I have been here 14 years and wouldn’t be sure I could tell you the colours of the various denomination notes and I still have to look at the number moulded into the coins. Everything, except the kids’ mufti days and sausage sizzles, is paid by card.

We used to have 1 cent and 2 cent coins but they were phased out sometime during the 1990s then in the 2000s sometime, they took away 5 cent coins too
