While I agree Trump has been most notable for saying those things, so have many firefighters, long term, like 30+ year firefighters in California, like my Dad, who have been saying this for decades. They see first hand, try to raise awareness, but are generally only able to on the small, local scale level, at best, and then mostly nothing changes. If the state of California stepped up in fire prevention and mitigation before a disaster, things could be way different in the end! Less loss, lower insurance premiums, less resources needed, etc. Spending a little ahead of time could save billions long term! But it's not a priority, because it doesn't necessarily get then re-elected, which is all any of them care about!
