@shadowtherat: Our next ratty highlight is on my sweet late girl Egg! Egg and her sister Omelet were rats I got from an oops feeder rat litter, and initially both girls looked so similar that I had trouble telling them apart! For weeks I dyed Omelets tail blue and Eggs tail green with food coloring to tell who was who - thankfully shortly after they turned 9 weeks old Omelet developed a light Himalayan point on her nose, and after that I was able to tell who was who pretty easily (so long as I saw their nose lol). . As far as personality goes, Egg was a bit of a reserved rat at first, and took some time to warm up to handling. Luckily for me Egg was EXTREMELY food motivated, so once she realized that I brought the goodies she quickly decided that I was ok. Like her sister Omelet, Egg quickly picked up fetch and was amazing at it - she even helped teaching it to a few of my other rats, because she was so focused on the ball that other rats would inevitably want to know what was so interesting, and that helped kick start a lot of their interest in fetch. . Egg ended up living a fairly healthy and long life, and while she developed a mammary tumor in the last few months, she was the first rat I tried the cabergoline-only approach with and it worked fantastic for her! The tumor shrunk by half and never grew again while she was on it, and it was an experience that's led me to treating several other rats for their tumors in the same way with decent success.
