The entire point of the show was to show how we as a society are viewed as merely horses by our government and people in charge and we the viewers are also players in this huge game. Obviously it was more extreme but it still is very real to whats happening in real life. The ending was a wake up call and a lesson. However it DID have a happy ending. Not in the sense that everyone is still alive but more in the sense that the games did not change gihun. No matter how much the games wanted to prove how humanity was bad and greedy it couldn’t because gihun remained true to himself. That to me is a better ending than just overthrowing the games.
