I used to work at a pretty high dollar classic car garage, everything got painted apart, and everything turned out perfect

To be fair , if it’s a heavy metallic or pearl painting in pieces the flake can lay down differently from one panel to another. To each their own. I just finished a 1963 tbird in pearl white and did it I pieces and it turned out beauty

If it has pearl it’s 1000% not going match

I have a question. Does it matter when painting a door if it’s painted as the orientation on the vehicle or can it be laid horizontal on saw horses? My concern is the layout of pearls or metallic in the paint.

It’s also a good idea to paint them as they sit on the car. It helps if the door is not flat on a stand because that could change the color in metallics if put on too heavy.

Your waterborne base coat paints are great for matching with the car apart painting

Environment and air pressure can definitely change color. Especially metallics because the flake can lay differently. Paint apart but at the same time is the real answer

Don’t forget all at the same time, or it will not match!

I worked for a picky guy the parts had to be removed to be painted and it always matched..it's only when u paint them at different times that can happen.. another tip if using after market parts test fit them before painting 🤣

I always paint in pieces plus if you run low on paint you can buy more to give you color then use the original can to give a final coat for color match

best way to not scratch your shit is to put your pride away and ask for help. especially if you got kids. you hold and let them put the bolts in.
