Straight men joking amongst themselves about that sort of thing has been normal for decades if not centuries. It's a mainstay of summer camps, boy scout groups, the military, etc. Was certainly common when I was in middle school in the 1990s. We didn't do it in front of girls so much, but mainly that was because we were scared girls would roll their eyes and tell us to grow up.
