Are there any OLD cemeteries near where you dug it. Old graves had the bells attached into the coffins in case the person was buried alive. Thats where grave yard shift term came from….they listened for bells ringing

Possibly one of those old gadgets that hung on the end of some sort of rod that was used to put out candles. Immediately what I thought when you said that it doesn't have a dinger inside of it.. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I dont think it's a bell it's a candle sniffer they used it to put out out fire. it most likely had a stick attached to the top.

I would say it’s to put on cattle like a cow bell I’m totally guessing but… or even to put on a goat so you know where they are!

While not the same design, this looks similar. I googles 'bell with grass etching on it' and it was about 8 pictures down on the 'image' option
