I’m actually a friend of the former mayor of Culver and he installed all those bike paths. SoCal roads are literally an abomination in general. He also acknowledged how unhinged the bike paths made everything 😅

It’s because downtown is angled on a perfect north/south axis, weho/brentwood is angled slightly off that to align with the mountains above it, and the west side is slanted significantly more to be parallel to the coastline. Culver City is exactly at the conflicting crossing of all three at once! So it’s merging three differently angled grids into one.
