Hate mine. “Gender neutral” but actually just a trendy 90s boy name in the uk that doesn’t really suit me. I see everyone giving their daughters boy names because it’s trendy currently and I feel bad for them because I’ve hated it. People assume I’m male before I meet them, I overcompensated with a very feminine style as a teenager, I’ve had councils/schools/authorities ‘correct’ my gender to male on official documents without checking with me first, it’s been rubbish.

My name is Celeste and my experience with my name has always been positive. Rarely do people misprounce it, no mean nicknames and people often compliment it when I introduce myself, and I've never known another Celeste in real life. As a kid I did always wish so badly for a nickname though! No kids yet but I think I will aim for something that kind of hits all the same marks?

I always liked my name. Being a Courtney born in the 70’s was not common. My kids had several Courtney’s in their grades in the 90’s and 2000’s. But Grandma Courtney now seems silly. And most Courtney’s on tv or movies are mean girls. 😩

My name is Noemí. The grief of being called Naomi my entire life has influenced me to really care about picking a cultural name that doesn’t have an english equivalent that it’s easible confusable for

My name is Melissa (1981) and I never ran into any growing up or in any jobs, college, or military. Which is weird cause is a popular name. Oddly though, people have always mistakenly called me Michelle. It’s a weird phenomenon that friends, family, and even co-workers have observed and are confused by. I’m never mistaken for anyone anywhere except for Michelle. I can’t stand the name Michelle but

My name is Amirah, it’s pronounced as (Uh.Me.Duh) and no one was able to pronounce or spell my name growing up. For some reason it’s confusing for some that the R in my name makes the sound the letter D makes. So I went by a water down pronunciation of my name up until I was 16 to make it easier for people to pronounce. After I turned 16 I was like if you can’t pronounce my name that your problem not mine so I stop caring after that.

Julianna 🧚🏻 :
I love my name! Most people know it but don’t hear it often. Never grew up with any Julianna’s. I mostly go by Jules, but travelling always go by Julianna as it’s more common in other places. Don’t have kids but am always attracted to a name with a nickname option!

I’m Sarah and born in 1979. 10% of my middle school class was Sarah. It was crazy! I moved and it wasn’t quite as common in my high school but just a super common name in 79-80. My oldest daughter is Leata and she has only ever met one other Leta and she was a 70 old woman and it was spelled Leta. Si I definitely named her a very uncommon name.

Tate :
My name is Tatum, my friends and family call me Tate. I love having a unique name, and a name with an easy nickname. My husband has a more common name - and it doesn’t have an easy nickname. He did not like being the 2nd or 3rd Brendan in the class. For our kids we like unique names, that have good nickname potential, but not like noun names or super modern! For girls we like Keeley, Carter, Soleil, Aviva, Miller. For Boys we like Desmond, Silas, Malcom, Mercer

I always loved my name but not my full name. I have 4 names, 5 if you count my last name and I always had to correct my teachers and others who didn't kno that I went by my 3rd name and not my first name. Then when I had kids I wanted to make sure that the name that they went by was their first name so they didn't have to go through the whole yes I'm Jennifer but I go by Alex and then everyone is like what where did Alex come from in that so then you have to go through all your names and it's Just annoying.

Ana and I HATED not having a nickname or having 5 Ana’s in my graduating class or 3 in my current office. My full name is Ana Maria but I never went by it after 4. I fully need a child whose name is nicknameable but is fine when full or shortened.

My name is Noel (pronounced like Noelle) and I loved having a rare name. I didn’t meet anyone else with my name until my 20s. I took a lot of pride in my name so I’m going to give my kids rare names too!

sky :
My name is Skylar and I love the nickname sky but went from having 2 in my whole elementary school to 6 of us in the same grade in high school and don’t get me started on it being spelt with an er instead of ar I have trophies and certificates with the wrong spelling that’s the only annoying part and I had speech issues so couldn’t properly say my name until I was like 7/8

I’m a Sophie NOT a Sophia. I do love my name. I feel connected to it. I like the meaning. My middle name is the Norwegian version of Gertrude (Gjertine) and means “strong spear”. I like the full name meaning “wisdom, strong spear”.

I like silly nicknames, not obvious nicknames, but that said,my name is Kristin. Noone really called me Kris, Kristy or Krissy though my dad, grandma and best friend did. If anyone else did, I absolutely wouldn't know to respond. My kids were adopted and all had nicknames, Jenni for Jennifer, Cris for Cristofer and Jeff or Jeffer for Jefferson. I always liked their full names and nicknames. I like the /fer/ pattern in all their names. Jennifer was born in 2001 (twins with Jefferson) and her name was no longer super common anymore, so she got to grow up with a familiar, but not common name, which kind of was the boys experience, too

never really loved my name 😅 even now as an adult I often find myself saying "Brandi- like the alcohol" and it makes people laugh but if I dont specify it seems like most people hear Randy or Brittney. also im named after alcohol so thats just not great. 😂 my first daughters name is Autumn which is definitely a more pleasant thing to be named after LOL. our 2nd is Adalee. which we thought was easy and straight forward but we did have a hospital nurse who kept calling here Adele
