This is so crazy. I was just there this weekend with my boys and they wanted to jump in the river, so I decided to check it out and being the surfer that I am. I always pay attention to under currents and I noticed that a lot of those spots where the water looks calm. There was a swift current right underneath. gave my kids a quick lesson on what to watch for when navigating rivers that you don’t know.. ultimately we went to Kings Canyon to jump in the kern river over there because I know it very well. I’m just so glad I listen to my instincts.

Are there warning signs in the area? California and Hawaii have strong water currents whether the ocean, river, and lakes. Every year so many lives are tragically taken. I’m certain many can be avoided with proper knowledge or enforcement?

Just got back from Sequoia/Kings canyon a few weeks ago. Those waters are deceitful. They may look calm but the current is strong. There was just another case a few weeks ago. Hope he is found 🙏🏼

Noo not another… My family has a cabin right on the kern and every single year someone goes missing.. There are plenty of warnings. It’s so so dangerous

My brother passed away exactly 14 years ago in this same river. When will people just stop risking it!! It’s so sad to see this happen every year .
